When was the last time you wrote a business plan and stuck to it? We've almost done it. When we opened Cafe Derailleur in 2010, we set the goal of building the business and exiting within five years - it has now been seven and we've just placed the cafe on the market. Not bad, huh?
Plenty of blood, sweat and tears - and knitting and crochet - has gone into creating Derailleur. We built her from scratch when we gutted an empty building near Wangaratta's railway precinct, and as our menu has grown, so too has our band of loyal customers.
For Lauren and I, it's time to move on – don’t worry, we're not leaving town, just the Derailleur kitchen. When the café’s under new ownership it’ll finally be our turn to relax in the back garden and mull over a latte.
For us whether or not we are selling, the Café Derailleur picture looks the same, as it's our staff that deliver on our vision and it’s our customers that create that special Derailleur vibe.
